How to clean motor bearings?Posted by On 2020年10月12日

Hot oil cleaning method:
Mainly used for motor bearings hardened by soft dry oil or anti-rust paste. They should be immersed in hot oil at 100-200℃, clamp the motor bearings with pliers, and brush clean the oil stains on the motor bearings with a brush. The soft dry oil or anti-rust paste will melt when heated to 100-200℃, and it will be easily washed out from the gap of the motor bearing. Sometimes as long as the motor bearing is shaken several times in the oil, the oil will flow away from the gap.
When cleaning the centripetal spherical motor bearing of the motor, the balls, the ball holder, and the inner ring should be rotated laterally from the outer ring and then immersed in hot oil. When cleaning the short cylindrical roller motor bearing, the rollers and balls should also be cleaned. The frame, inner ring and outer ring are disconnected.
During hot oil cleaning, the temperature of the oil should not exceed 200°C. If using an open flame to heat directly, care should be taken to prevent the oil from burning. The motor bearing should be hung in the oil pan. The sinking of the bottom will cause overheating and reduce hardness.

General cleaning method:
Soak the motor bearings in kerosene for 5-10 minutes, pinch the inner ring with one hand, and turn the outer ring with the other. The dry oil or anti-rust paste on the motor bearings will fall off. Then put the motor bearing in cleaner kerosene, scrub it with a soft brush, wash the balls and the oil in the gap, put it in gasoline and clean it once, take it out and place it on a clean paper. When cleaning the bearings of centripetal spherical ball motors and short cylindrical roller motors, the balls, the ball frame, the inner ring and the outer ring should be separated for cleaning.
The motor bearing mounted on the shaft is cleaned mainly by spraying oil or spraying with a grease gun. The oil that is easy to be cleaned should be kerosene and then gasoline; the oil that is difficult to clean should be sprayed with hot oil at 100-200℃. Wash or spray with oil gun, then clean with gasoline. Be careful not to use sharp tools to scrape the hard grease or rust on the motor bearing, so as not to damage the smoothness of the motor bearing rolling element and groove ring. The washed motor bearing should be wiped dry with a clean cloth.

Inspection and installation method
1. Before inspecting the bearing, first remove the old lubricating oil from the inner and outer small covers of the bearing, and then clean the inner and outer small covers with a brush gasoline. After cleaning, clean the bristles or cotton filaments and do not leave them in the bearing.
2. Carefully check the bearing after cleaning. The bearing should be clean and intact, free from overheating, cracks, peeling, groove impurities, etc., the inner and outer raceways are smooth, and the gaps are qualified. If the support frame is loose, the support frame and the bearing sleeve will be rubbed. When the time, new bearings should be replaced.
3. The overhauled bearing should rotate flexibly without jamming.
4. Check that the inner and outer small covers of the bearing should be free of wear. If there is wear, find out the cause and deal with it.
5. The matching between the inner sleeve of the bearing and the shaft should be tight, otherwise it should be handled.
6. When assembling a new bearing, use oil heating or eddy current method to heat the bearing. The heating temperature should be 90~100℃. Put the bearing on the motor shaft at high temperature and ensure that the bearing is assembled in place. Put up the bearing to avoid damage to the bearing.
